0951: female on the Alnus incana snag just N of the diversion.
Observation details
1 singing. One or more seen or heard at least 13 times in flight. First seen at 0930, when 1 flew around at ca shrub height at the diversion dam, apparently foraging, then landed in the Alnus incana snag 10 m N of the creek. At 0935 a male and female BHCO flew to the top of the alder snag, at which the BARS took off. At 0944 a BARS was again perched in the alder snag; still there at 0950. Got a video of it preening during this time. Photos suggest it was a female (pale, whitish belly). On the return at 1224 I heard 1 BARS warbling (song portion?) a bit in flight, then calling, and circling over the rocky draw. At 1310 I saw 2 BARS in flight and then perched near the diversion, 1 on a 4 m high dirt pile, the other on a pile of wood N of the stream, ca 40 m farther N. I then saw them for ca 15 seconds in a close chase with twists and turns; heard a variety of upslurred "queet" calls, and then 1 (male) launched into song and then landed on the Alnus incana snag just N of the diversion. I thought the other one was pale underneath like a female, but was not positive.
