Observation details
Including 1 *beyond property boundary*; 12 singing. 1 singing distant NE of the start point. Noted apparently a bit of habitat overlap between singing VESP and SAVS in the E part of reach 3, S of the stream: around 0740 I was hearing 1 SAVS and 1 VESP from this area. At roughly 0803 I saw an intense, fast chase twice at the stream edge in reach 3 between 2 drab grayish sparrows with white outer tail feathers, with a third glimpsed on or close to the ground nearby. The movement was so fast I did not get a good look, but I strongly suspected they were VESP. At 1021, noted a VESP singing repeatedly from a small Chokecherry clump at the edge of the rocky draw 20-25 m N of the stream; another countersang from the SW. I thought it was notable to see one singing from such a high perch. Ca 1108 I saw a short chase involving 2 VESP near the Artemisia cana area; 1 landed briefly on the N-S barbed wire fence at the property boundary afterwards. Also heard regular singing from 2 in this general area (same two?). By 1250, VESP and WEME singing was much decreased, but I still heard song very occasionally.
