Observation details
Pumping song around 8pm. Recorded audio, but not picked up clearly, will try for a better recording. With headphones, can faintly hear an onk-a-chonk at 20 and 23 seconds but it's drowned out by the highway and ambient noise. After hearing the song, I walked away from its general area, hoping to exit its territory and give it space. Just as I walked away, a second Ambi flew out of a different canal about 50-100 yards away (bad photo). Steve Arena just explained the pumping song tends to start in breeding season after the males have separated from each other and established their respective territories. Post to NHESP also.
