NOTES: CALLS OF BIRD FLYING OVER NEST PREPARATORY TO LANDING. 'YUK, KER-OOUW, YUK, YUK'. THE 'OOUW' IS LONG AND DRAWN OUT. MATE WAS ON NEST ON GROUND. WE HAVE HEARD AS MANY AS 4 'YUKS' AT END OF THE CALL. BY FIRST WEEK IN DEC. THEY WERE DROPPING THE 1 MALE(S) 'YUKS' (SEE LNS 982). SMALL AMPHITHEATER PROVIDES NESTING SPACE FOR MANY WEDGE-TAILED SHEARWATERS AND KERMADEC PETRELS. PETRELS NEST ON GROUND USUALLY UNDER A BUSH. MATE RETURNS FROM SEA IN AFTERNOON FROM 1400 ON. MAKES MANY PASSES OVER NEST GIVING. Other Behaviors: Mate. Elevation: 8 m.
