Observation details
Continuing rarity. First heard singing after we reached the Lookout along Hamburg Trail at about 8:50 am. Bird was perched in a large Manzanita tree across the canyon. It later flew to a Douglas Fir very close to the trail and continued to sing. These locations were visible from the large gap in the tree cover along the trail. It then flew off farther up Canyon. We relocated it just after the second water crossing. It was still singing. It then flew off back in the direction it had come from earlier. In all, it sang for at least 30 minutes—up until about 9:20 am. There were five of us that saw it in this occasion. It was a very orange red and in the morning sunlight it fairly glowed.
