Observation details
Resting just offshore in the bay. Identification assisted by the following: Kevin Bartram Head pattern, including the supercilium too distinct, collar too large, bill proportions all wrong for a Fairy Prion. Definitely a whalebird, looks to fit an Antarctic now I'm seeing it on the big screen. Also Dan Ashdown Considered large-billed Fairy Prion, can be difficult identifying Prions in this situation. In addition to features highlighted by Kevin felt it was an Antarctic because of steep curvature to cutting edge of latericorn at its base (Quite a big "Smile", beyond that of FP) and quite broad base to latericorn which narrows steeply towards bill tip (Would expect FP to show a more even depth). Quite a classic Antarctic Prion bill to me.
