Observation details
***Very Rare. Apparently the first spring record for the Finger Lakes. First found earlier by Jay McGowan, by the time I got there, a sizable group had gathered and were looking for the swallow. Eventually we all got on it, showing quite well at times. The bird was overall a smaller swallow, with quite a fluttery appearance. It had a short, squared tail, and in binoculars and the scope a dark forehead with a pale throat. The back and wings were darker compared to the rump and head, and its undersides were overall pale. The rump was a dark cinnamon color. Good views overall, and an awesome bird to get for the state. Photos.
