Observation details
This is a very strong candidate for Eurasian Collared-Dove. The species hasn’t been reported in the area and apparently the closest ebird reports have been in the vicinity of Hong Kong to the south and rural Jiangxi Province to the north. The other possibility considered was female Red Collared-Dove. This bird has a very long tail projection beyond the primary tips, too long for a Red Collared-Dove and about right for a Eurasian Collared-Dove. The under tail color pattern, as depicted in one of the photos is perfect for Eurasian Collared-Dove. The leg color is light, tending towards pinkish tones, again good for Eurasian Collared-Dove and for Red Collared-Dove a much darker leg would be expected. The perfectly formed narrow white orbital ring or eye ring is indicative of Eurasian Collared-Dove.
