Observation details
Around noon today Janet Stein spotted and Janet Moore saw and later identified this bird in willows along the stream below and just upstream from the signed Rose Canyon amphitheater (which is just south of the parking loop at the end of the road). We were able to relocate it in the same area and get documentary photos of this incredibly beautiful and rare bird. If accepted, it will be the first record for Arizona and the US. (note:10 dollar day use fee for Rose Canyon. The usual recreation pass for the Catalinas does not defer that fee.)
