Observation details
Approximately 1/2 mile south of Jetty, standing on the beach with a mixed gull pack, associating with herring gulls. Larger than HEGU, white bird (including all white wing tips). Probably first cycle - can see some light brown barring, mostly on chest and under tail. Dark eyes, light pink legs, light pink bill with dark tip. Stood towards the water near the fringes of the HEGUs. Seemed not quite as skittish as many of the other gulls when people ran through the crowd. Flew a short distance twice before landing back on the beach. In January we saw the immature GLGU that has been south of here at Sebastian Inlet recently and this one looks nearly identical, slightly less brown on the head. This gull was first reported on this beach yesterday by Shalev Weber.
