Observation details
Originally submitted as a GIFL in 2018, flagged by photo-reviewer as a hybrid in 2022. Details: Pattern on face good for either red-shafted northern or gilded, head pattern good for northern with brown forehead transitioning to gray at top of crown and down the nape, chest patch appears more oval-shaped (good for gilded) than crescent-shaped, a few remiges shaft appear orange which is not supposed to occur in pure gilded, while these feathers and rectrices appear yellow. Not a YSFL due to face pattern and lack of red crescent on nape and shape of chest patch. This appears to be a Northern x Gilded Flicker. Original comments: Seems an unusual location though have seen them in the area before. Nice oval breast shield and no red on the nape eliminate intergrade NOFL.
