NOTES: L.F. MAJOR. IT IS SUNSET, NOCTURNAL SOUNDS CAN BE HEARD WITH A DIMINISHING OF THE DIURNAL SOUNDS. ROOSTING CALLS AND MANY INSECTS AND AMPHIBIANS MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO SINGLE OUT ANY ONE SOUND VERY WELL EXCEPT FOR THE DISTANT LANIARIUS. MYLES DESCRIBES THE COMBINATION BY WHISTLINGWHAT HE HEARS EACH BIRD DOING, AND W.H. THORPE CAN BEHEARD IN THE BACKGROUND MURMURING HIS AGREEMENT. THERE ARE TWO BIRDS FLUTE DUETTING, AND A THIRD IS PUTTING IN AN OFF KEY. J.F.M. HORNE RECOMMENDS THAT W.H.THORPE'S 'DUETTING AND ANTIPHONAL SONG IN BIRDS', CAMBRIDGE UNIV. PRESS, 1972. 3 ADULT(S). Habitat: Lake.
