Media notes
Calls from an adult male foraging along the ice edge with other dabblers. Much different than calls from nearby Americans, always given singly rather than in series, a strident, overslurred note. Three segments, the first two each with two calls and third with three. Gulls and Mallards in the background.
Observation details
**Rare, less than annual in county. Adult male foraging with Americans along ice edge off middle of park, making its way towards west end. First detected by call (!!) as I was scanning through ducks, and quickly spotted as I skipped ahead to where the unfamiliar sound was coming from. Call more strident than surrounding Americans, a single descending whistle.
