Our rare winter magpie
Observation details
A rare visitor here. We had one in 2013 with a broken bill that disappeared halfway though the winter. This one is spotted here and there; there is a dog yard (sled dogs) at the end of our street, so this one seems to be hanging around for the occasional treat. This photo is terrible, but I was practicing with my new 500 mm lens and seeing the range of the lens, and it was flying around. This was taken from about 200 yards away and Photoshopped to death, but you can see it's the magpie. Taken on Feb. 11. People around town see it off and on.
