Observation details
Noticed a hole with something in it hoping for a Screech Owl but it turned out to be leaves but I happened to look to the left and noticed some rust coloring and it was an Owl!! It was on the other side of the canal to the right of the "bridge to no-where". I wanted to get in front of it cause I was off to the side and two other Birders walked up. I told them I just found an Owl and I was going to get closer so we all walked over but there was another guy and his dog (off leash) walking the canal path and the Owl got spooked. As soon as I got it in my scope it backed down in to the snag it was looking out of. The couple waited and then left. I waited for about 45-60min for it to come back out. It took the sun coming out for it to make an appearance. It sat there soaking up the last of the sun. A Flicker came flying up to the snag and the Owl backed down in to the hole again. The Flicker almost went down in to the snag but looked in and flew off. The owl didn't come back out while I was there.
