Observation details
This bird was spotted around 7.30 at the jetty right next to the inlet parking lot. Photo #1 shows the moment and the location when I spotted it. The bird was very active and spent most of the time under water, staying only a second or two on the water surface between dives. It moved slowly towards the end of the jetty, but always staying very close to it. The bird came towards me and I let it pass while shooting some photos and observing it. When the bird had almost reached the end of the jetty, my camera battery needed to be replaced. When I looked up after changing the battery I could not find the bird again. I did neither see it fly away nor swim away, I somehow just lost track of it. Shortly afterwards other birders arrived and tried to refind it. One birder said to me that it was seen near the red buoy but other birders including me couldn't get on the bird again. Based on plumage details this individual appears to be an immature.
