Observation details
Continuing. Dark brown diving duck with uniquely square-shaped head. White stripe of speculum showing consistently. Faint diffuse pale beige-cinnamon eyering on blotchy brown face. Thick dark gray-green bill. Dove with distinct wing-flick motion like a Long-tailed Duck. Some of underwing seen to be whitish when diving. Viewed by many observers this morning. Fairly close in; photos could have been better had we waited for sunlight to reach the bird.
