Observation details
**Very rare, though likely overlooked and underreported; first Nebraska record of this subspecies. A Red-tailed Hawk with dark throat, golden streaks down sides of breast, and an extremely dense, nearly solid belly band. Initially noticed while driving by due to its belly band, and we turned around and photographed it both in flight and perched. The belly band was the most surprising feature on this bird, with it being dense and blotchy near the front of the bird and becoming nearly solid on the sides. Identification also supported from feedback via the Facebook Hawk ID group.
