Observation details
A large loon-sized grey-bodied grebe with a very long elegant neck (pristine white on the front, dark grey on the back); white face with a bold black cap and nape, with the divide at eye level; a long pointed greenish-orange/yellow bill, and red eye. Did not have white above eye as Clark's Grebe. A fairly common species in the nearshore waters of southern Southeast Alaska. Photos were taken if of interest.
