Observation details
Following heavy rains and high tides, 2 birds 100 meters apart on exposed sand bank 75 meters from cover, most unusual. Bird very briefly seen at close range and first thought to be vagrant Little Stint due to location, size and V-pattern on back. Small size eliminates Brown and Stubble Quails, V-patterns on back from buff-edged scapulars [no spotted effect] eliminates King Quail and Red-backed, orange flanks diagnostic for Red-chested, Little has pale flanks.
