Observation details
Took photos. Tail very black on top, with several narrow white bands. Wings had large reddish patches on top portion as it flew. Breast barred extensively with fairly fine rusty brown. Initially this hawk was perched in a tree right next to the road on the left as we approached, but then it soon flushed and flew across the road in front of us and disappeared in the trees. We'd had decent identifiable looks, but were hoping for a more extended view. I decided to play a Red-shouldered Hawk call on my speaker, and it flew in and perched briefly a fairly close range. Unfortunately it left before I was able to take photos, but eventually it circled around and perched in a distant tree -- where I was able to get this long-range (heavily cropped) photos.
