Observation details
With large flock of Graylag Geese. First stood out as being about 10-15% smaller; white on forehead and front of face were obvious. White most extensive on forehead, narrowing in width before meeting bill by lower mandible. Extensive black spotting on belly and up onto flanks visible from multiple angles. Culmen slightly curved, as typical of Greater White-fronted Goose as opposed to the straight culmen of Graylag Goose. Bill overall slightly smaller in relation to head and body than would be typical of Graylag Goose as well. Distinguished from Lesser White-fronted Goose by larger side, larger bill in relation to head and body (not exceptionally stubby), and lack of visible eye ring. Photo by Billi Krochuk
