Sandpipers were actively eating some kind of food grub from the rocks underwater.
Observation details
Day 3 of continuing immature birds. They didn't show up at Marina boat launch until around 8:30 am and only stayed for a few hours before disappearing again somewhere. One bird was all pale, the other actually has some rusty edge feathering on some back feathers and a slightly down curved bill, reminiscent of a Western Sandpiper (however, it had yellow legs and wasn't chunky or big enough to be that species). New back/wing feather edging indicate these are young of the year birds. A spectacular CBC species!
