Observation details
Continuing vagrant. Very cooperative, sitting out in the field, on the wires, and along the fence on the side of Hwy 39. Many photos. Subadult based on molt limits in the wing - a few inner primaries and the primary coverts retained and worn. I'm not sure on age/sex/subspecies. Maggie MacPherson noted that P8 is notched, which should mean that is is the nominate subspecies, which is resident in Central America and northern South America. The back, however, is very pale gray, which is more typical of the austral migrant subspecies monachus of southern South America.
