Observation details
Continuing birds from whit I can tell, spotted 4 actively probing, Gray basic plumage. Tough id, and very quiet bird on wintering ground. Habitat: is inland tidal coastal marsh more consistent with LBDO Voice: quiet, no help here Heads/neck: more uniform gray, not spotted, more consistent with LBDO than SBDO Eye/Bill: Appears to have accute Loral Angle which is more consistent with LBDO Scapulars: Looking for subtle dark centers more consistent with LBDO, couldn't make determination Sides: flanks have more consistent uniform vertical strips more consistent with LBDO than SBDO Body Shape: Less reliable, looks like swallowed a grapefruit, more round, consistent with larger female LBDO. The males from reference photos observed seem to be skinnier. Tail: Tail projection appears flush with wings, with feathers going up, not a fully reliable indicator. Unable to observe any of the tail feather barring to help narrow down the choises.
