Media notes
Largest grebe with Beautiful prominent crest, longer neck, non breeding individual seen with pink bill and prominent white above the eye, winter visitor from Europe and Central Asia to northern India not recorded in tamilnadu or southern peninsular India earlier . Known to have been a threatened species in the 19th century hunted for feathers with drastic decline in population though no longer a threat now. This individual was seen swimming around the lake preening at times, coming closer to the shores, diving in many a time ,dabbling behaviour very prominent.Had a very cute spectacular and funny way of paddling probably because of its legs that are placed at the rear of its body .
