Observation details
Very surprised to find a large raft of this species actively diving about 100-200 meters from shore. Counted carefully by fives and tens. I expected them to be Eared Grebes, but found that all had extensive bright white cheek patches and the flat crowns of this species, rather than the rounded, puffy head shape of Eareds. Several photos below.
