Observation details
Solitary Snipe (text revised after studying photos). Single large snipe flew up from river bank area, no zigzags, no calls, gave impression of woodcock (slow, large), but grey brown, no warm browns, and nearly immediately settled at backside of island in river, still less than 10m from us. Dark smudgy bar below eye, dark only lightly patterned mantle, barred flank, visible part of belly seems light. Legs yellowish. Most parts points to Solitary Snipe, although this is not supposed to be here or along a river. Could be migrator with health problems, or fleeing cold wave in mountains. Photos will be added once they are shared with reporter. Photos are by Rajendra Gurung (and mobile phone flight photo by Yubin Shrestha)
