Observation details

Feeding with a flock of RECRs near the top of a spruce tree. Spotted a relatively drab female crossbill with two contrasting white wing-bars, dusky ariculars, limited yellow on the front, smudgy streaking on the flanks, pale utc/vent, and a slightly longer forked tail. Eventually we noticed it calling and after playing back the call to confirm what we were hearing the bird flew over us calling. Pics and audio later. After reviewing video of the bird we noticed there were not one but two! Guess we were so stoked about the one that we didn’t pay attention to the possibility of there being two.
