Observation details
A perfect and striking adult bird photographed at close range. A juvenile on the light end of the thayeri spectrum (perhaps it wouldn't make the grade on the west coast) that I feel, based on structure and plumage, is closer to the thayeri end than the kumlieni end. The adult is ridiculous...on the "thayeri end of thayeri."
