Observation details

I could be off here, and would love comments. This bird has a very RTLO feel in terms of shape, especially head and bill structure, with the thin head peaked at the back, upturned bill, and small eye pushed far forward toward the bill. I think the limited extent of white on the cheek and throat falls within the range for RTLO. This is one of those birds that gets you kicking yourself: it was pretty close in to shore, and I snapped these two photos as I walked out to the best vantage, then I got distracted by some Harlequin Ducks, and when I went to pick up the loon again, it had vanished.
