Observation details
On west unit pond. Usually leery about this bird, but obvious rounder head, not peaked. Bottom half of head much broader than LESC. Wider bill. Glare interfered with seeing size of nail. Barring on flanks negligible. Wider, lower stance in water. At first seen cruising with only head and tail above water. Odd. After I changed positions in the truck, he stayed up for several minutes. Good digiscoped photos and video.
