Red-naped Sapsucker, Babel Slough, Yolo County, California
Observation details
Continuing; ~3:00 on sycamore with sapsucker holes on north (opposite) side of slough just before first trash disposal warning sign. Reported earlier by Mark Sawyer (http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S40600869). I initially considered this bird to be a Yellow-bellied x Red-naped hybrid given the lack of red on the nape and the seemingly intermediate throat pattern, but have changed the identification based on the following information: ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: John Sterling via eBird Date: Mon, Jan 22, 2018 at 5:18 PM Subject: Question about your Yellow-bellied x Red-naped Sapsucker (hybrid) observation in eBird Several experts confirmed the original identification as a pure Red-naped Sapsucker, so please change it to that species.
