Media notes
BHVI sings four short, separated phrases this poor recording. The four distinct phrases appear approx at seconds 4, 6, 14, 16. Lots of interference: CACH, AMRO, and background noise. I did not attempt to get a better recording due to all the noise (and I did not realize ebird.org would mark the BHVI as a rare bird for this area and season).
Observation details
Calling, then singing, along wooded area of Meadow trail near picnic tables, just a few meters from us. Two of us only got glimpses of the bird but all four of us heard the bird. The call was an odd one-note sound that resembled a HETH, but we knew it was different. Then it began to sing, about 3 to 5 meters off the ground in the thickets and vines growing on the pines and oaks. Erla recorded the song. Erla has heard this distinctive song many times in various parts of NC and FL. Did not call it in nor attempt to get a better recording; did not realize ebird.org would mark the bird as rare for this region and time of year.
