Observation details
Observed as it flew up and landed on a power pole near the road at 15621 Cochran Road in Waller County. The narrow pointed wings with large windows caught my attention. The birds tail was whitish with a broad diffused terminal band. I pulled over and it remained on the pole even though I was fairly close. I immediately took pictures and confirmed my suspicions that the bird was a Ferruginous Hawk. In the pictures the extended gap is prominent as is the ferruginous wing color contrasting with a grayish head.
