Observation details
**RARE | continuing from 11 Nov when found by Angela Iannicelli at her feeders at the top of Horn Hill. Straight forward immature male Bullock's: brightest yellow in face; black patch on throat; black eye stripe; pale gray below chest; yellow UTC and tail; broad white edging on tertials, greater and median coverts; gray back with small dark centered mantle and scapular feathers. Primarily visiting fresh oranges that had been put out; also on suet briefly. Attempted to eat Rosa multiflora hip but didn't appear to consume the fruit. This appears to be the first record of Bullock's Oriole for Monhegan Island and Lincoln County. The record falls in line with previous state occurrences which all occur in late fall, primarily in November. Last year there were two records: a long staying bird in Camden (Knox Co.) from 14 Nov 2016 through 2 April 2017 and an Alexander (Washington Co.) bird from ~1 Dec through 8 Dec 2016; both of these were immature males.
