NOTES: (Time: 1500-1645. Bkground Sounds: River. Behav. Context: Nectar/food source defense.) Playback used to draw them in close, as they were moving around. Two individuals coming and going around us as we were recording. They responded to playback when in the immediate area, by close approach and calls. The two species of Zosterops on Mauritius do interact when the population of this sp. is sufficiently high so as to have a few pairs in one area, as can be heard on this cut when the high frequency squeak call of Z.b. mauritiana can be heard. This is similar to the behaviour witnessed on Reunion where two spp. interact. Individual(s) were moving backa nd forth through the [illegible word] area foraging-interacting with (mate?) & Z.b. mauritiana. HPR 220. Part A 11:00 Part B 10:20.
