Observation details
Flushed twice then perched in grass for several minutes, affording excellent close up views. Could only get poor iphone photos and audio of chips (as camcorder died while recording a Vesper). Flight was weak, like a small Song Sparrow, lightish brown like a Savannah, originally flushed from mowed area into longer grass, then flushed at close range and alighted on big bluestem, flicking wings, was as interested in me as I was in it. Orange face, postocular line, purplish streaks on nape, streaked sides below. Dropped down into grass after at least five minutes of observation at 15 feet. It actually moved towards me while under observation! Found at bottom of the partially mowed field nearest main entrance, in strip of unmowed grass opposite tree closest to white barn, about where there's a small patch of sedges.
