Observation details
A jaeger with white wing flash with small secondary flash. Color overall was dark cinnamon tone. It appeared to be smaller than Herring, and about the size of Ring-bill. Central retrices slightly longer and rounded. Central under tail coverts barred. The bird was first seen invading a flock of gulls sitting on the south pier, For over five minutes we watched the POJA and gulls take turns harassing each other. Flight during these sorties was slow and deliberate, not fast, wheeling and falcon-like as a PAJA would. We did not see the POJA steal any food from the gulls, although the gulls were not hunting at the time. We did see gulls take a few small passerines in flight earlier in the morning. See photos.
