ML: The recordist and original archivist, David L. Ross, Jr., created an analog archival copy of this recording that was too fast (see note above). At the time of digitization, I communicated with David Ross, and he instructed me to play the archival analog recording at 14.64 ips when digitizing the recording. I then sent him the resulting digital file for his opinion on the speed of the recording. He indicated that the speed sounded best following his first voice announcement, but that the speed "might be a little fast still early on in the cut," prior to his first voice announcement. We agreed, however, that this digital copy (created from playing the analog archival copy at 14.64 ips) represented our best attempt to recreate the original field recording. Any listeners or researchers should be aware that the speed of the recording might be slightly faster than what occurred in the field. (Matt Medler, 10 March 2010). Response to playback: Approach. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest, River.
