Observation details
Apparently, I made a mistake posting these birds as Pectoral. In the field, I had good looks at a couple of these sandpipers and had concluded that they had to be STSA. They were the right size (see poor pic with dunlin), they had relatively long yellow legs (but were noticeably smaller than the LEYE with them, and were paler grey with less pattern - see LEYE pic), their legs and bills were longer than I was used to with Pectoral (or than the co-occurring DUNL), and they had less distinct breast markings. Although I remembered seeing the species noted on ebird's page, I did not remember where. So, when I was posting my list for this location, probably partly because I was tired, when Stilt Sandpiper did not appear on the list, I jumped to the conclusion that I had mis-concluded my identification and opted for pectoral. After noticing this evening that they were seen today, I looked through the pics I took and, altho not a great pic, it seems to confirm my original thoughts (at the time I was on site, I did not think that there was anything that special about the shore birds, but having dug out the camera to photo the FRGU, I took a few shots of shorebirds.
