White-crowned Sparrow first winter stayed on the branch until every berry was gone
Observation details
5 with first-winter colours - rufous stripes over head and gray/buffy between the stripes, plain gray front, rufous on wings and tail, 2 wing bars, bright colored bills. 3 were eating berries in the trees near the bridge and 2 eating knotweed seeds (polygonum sp. realated to buckwheat) on the bike path / jogging path by the lake.
