Surf Scoter female on Wascana Lake, Regina SK
Observation details
dark brownish bird with vertical white spot by a dark gray bill and there was a whitish patch on the side of its head. Dark eye not yellow like a Cogo. The profile of the head and bill seemed to be a straight line from the top of the head to the tip of the bill. I did not see a knob on the bill like a WWSC. The body profile is flatter to the water than a Mallard. It appeared to be alone swimming and diving a few times. I believe it may be the same bird I saw yesterday closer to the E end of the lake.
