Observation details
Lone bird flying westward at 914 AM just past and below the end of the pier. These pictures are cropped frames from video taken during strong southerly winds, rain, and large wave action from Hurricane Nate that passed just west of Mobile AL last night. Tail very long and rather deeply forked; the longest feathers white and barely visible, and only in some frames. Full white collar, gray back paler than the wings, under primaries dark only at their tips, unlike all-dark primaries of Sooty Terns. Eyestripe behind eye not evident but confounded by being merged with extensive white forehead of this winter-plumaged bird.
