Media notes
Large-sized peep. Long thing, slightly curved bill, silvery back with scalloped feathers, this photo shows a hint of the long criss-crossed primaries, long attenuated look. Lighter underneath, underwing very white, breast markings more pronounced than expected for Western, but far less than Pectoral. Found at Lake Elberta Park, Tallahassee, Leon county, Florida on 5 October 2017.
Observation details
Originally IDd as Western Sandpiper, but changed thanks to input from Elliot Schunke. Large-sized peep. Long thing, slightly curved bill, silvery back with scalloped feathers, couldn't see primary extension beyond tail tip in the field or in photos, but the very long, attenuated look suggests it. Lighter underneath, underwing very white, breast markings more pronounced than expected for Western, but far less than Pectoral.
