NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut #20. Bulk reel #492 Song type 1 = SO-SOO-la; 2 = SO-SO-LA; 3 = SO-LAA. a) 7:00 AM. Elevation: 180 m. Weather: Clear, fair. Type 3 and Type 1: the main (only) types heard in this area at this time. Qualitiy: 3-. Level: 0. 203 tape. 3.75 ips. LN. Copied N-4.2 to N-IV; then recopied N-IV to N-4.2, filtering: a) 300/2500 Hz. No parabola. b) ~8:00 AM. Elevation: 240 m. Weather: Clear, fair. All three types heard in this area at this time but mainly 1 & 2. Quality: 3-. Level: +2. Copied N-4.2 to N-IV; then recopied N-IV to N-4.2, filtering: b) 300/4000 Hz. No parabola. Road to Turiamo - Birds (Soisolas) active vocally from dawn to 8:30 or 9:00 AM. All three phrase types were heard and were probably +/- equally common considering the entire retion from lower elevations to upper elevations (on the inland side from the pass; the coastal slope was not checked). However, one might obtain a different impression if he listened at only one spot. For example, at dawn in the lower part (70-100 m. altitude), the main song type heard was type 2 (according to notes I made; also, as heard in background of Cut 18 of Cyanocompsa cyanoides), but after 6:30 AM I began walking slowly up the road and at ~ the 170 to 200 m. altitude there were mostly types 3 and 1, while at the 220-250 m. altitude, all those were heard, but mainly 1 and 2 (see cuts 20 a & b).
