Observation details
I had seen on the E-Bird alerts recently that a White Egret had been spotted at the mouth of Trout Creek, so while on the look-out for other birds, I made my way down the trail to the creek head. No sign of an egret. I waded half way across the creek and stood for awhile to see if anything would come along. I could hear the Steller’s Jays down the river and smaller birds in the distance. Then a Great Blue heron flew by and around the corner. I followed it a short distance but lost sight of it. I was about to head out, the Great White flew in just around the corner from where I was standing. I spent over an hour just walking alongside the river watching as he waded and fished and had an occasional drink. After a while I left and went further down the river and was taking photos of a group of Robins and a pygmy nuthatch and he appeared right beside me and we had another visit.
