NOTES: BNA: These vocalizations are not consistent with any described in BNA. 2 vocalizations, one sounds to me like "beezzt"; the other sounds like "tsee-dup"; they alternate. mf [This appears to represent the Primary Song of BNA, alternating between Regularly Repeated Vocalizations 1 and 2 (RRV1, RRV2; see also Smith, W. J. 1970. Song-like displays of Sayornis species. Behaviour 37: 64-84), but these songs from South America are quite different from those of North American birds pictured by BNA and Smith. The 23 RRVs alternate between RRV1 and RRV2, both beginning and ending with what I suspect is RRV2. Quality changed from 2-3 to 2 (but with a bit of what appears to be water rumble) - CAM - 4 April 2005] ML: Subject changed from recordist's original identification of Sayornis nigricans angustirostris to Sayornis nigricans latirostris/angustirostris to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015. Other Behaviors: Perform Visual Display. Habitat: Pasture, Cloudforest, River.
