NOTES: YOUNG FLICKER CALLING IN NEST ('CHU-CHU') AND ADULTS OUTSIDE CALLING FROM TIME TO TIME. LAST CALL IS BY THE FEMALE. Other recordist(s): EMANUEL V. [This recording appears to contain "Nestling Buzzing" and begging calls by nestling C. c. chrysoides (based on range), in addition to "Peah" calls (throughout, but unclear whether given by adults, nestlings, or both - but these calls seem to be shorter and higher-pitched than typical calls by adults, suggesting that they may indeed be given by the nestlings), and "Long Calls" and "Wicka Calls" by the parents. "Long Calls" at 0:08 (distant), 0:26 (more distant), 0:57, 2:11, 2:28, and 3:48-4:32 (five). "Wicka Calls" at 1:38 (probably the best one here, but still not all that good), 2:36, and 3:42. Quality changed from 1-2 to 2 (due to microphone rumble) - CAM - 2 December 2004] ID changed from Colaptes auratus to C. chrysoides. 10Feb2005mf. Habitat: Desert.
