Media notes
NOTES: LNS Note: Unbroken cut with internal recordist announcement gain change (MJA, 9Feb2005). Cover density: THICK; SMALL DENSELY WOODED VALLEY IN COASTAL FOOTHILLS. AFTER FOUR DOUBLE-RAPS THIS WOODPECKER MOVED RAPIDLY UP A BRANCH--TAPPING AS HE CLIMBED--JUMPED TO ANOTHER BRANCH (STILL TAPPING) AND CONTINUED UNTIL HE HAD INVESTIGATED ALL THE MAJOR BRANCHES 1 MALE(S)OF THE DEAD TREE. HE THEN FLEW AWAY. THE DEEP HUM HEARD IN ONE PART OF THIS RECORDING SEEMS TO COME FROM THE SAME TREE--I COULD NOT DETERMINE ITS SOURCE. Other Behaviors: Bill Drumming.
